She was present during the Battle of the Philippine Sea in June but did not come in contact with American surface forces. Torpedoed in early 1944 by an American submarine, Musashi was forced to return to Japan for repairs, during which the navy greatly augmented her anti-aircraft armament. She was used to transferring forces and equipment between Japan and various occupied islands several times in 1944. The ship was transferred to Truk in early 1943 and sortied several times that year with the fleet in unsuccessful searches for American forces. They were equipped with six or seven floatplanes to conduct reconnaissance.Ĭommissioned in mid-1942, Musashi was modified to serve as the flagship of the Combined Fleet, and spent the rest of the year working up.

Their secondary armament consisted of four (6.1 in) triple-gun turrets formerly used by the Mogami-class cruisers. The Yamato-class ships were the heaviest and most powerfully armed battleships ever constructed, displacing almost 72,000 long tons (73,000 t) fully loaded and armed with nine (18.1 in) main guns. In this case, she would still have weaker AA over Yamato due to a few less DP and AA mounts but stronger AA and secondaries over her 1943 outfit only slightly less or same AA as her 1944 outfit.Musashi (武蔵), named after the former Japanese province, was one of two Yamato-class battleships built for the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN), beginning in the late 1930s. Or even some fictional hybrid of both where she gets her most of, or all of, her late war mounts but keeps the wing 155s instead of buffing secondary range (moving around any AA and/or DPs to areas that are on Yamato but not on Musashi). 13~15km range fully spec'd would be reasonable. Musashi can work as a secondary-build boat if they gave her longer secondary range to compensate for the loss of AA and secondary mounts, regardless of whether it's her 1943 iteration (with wing 155s) or her 1944 iteration (more like Yamato's current setup, but with fewer secondaries/AA). That aside, Musashi is pure T10 material, and would make a perfect FXP T10 just add the caveat of needing to own Yamato in order to know what you're doing and if it's worth investing in what's likely to be a downgraded Yamato. There are many ideas on how to use it, but none is fixed at this time. As for Musashi, it is true that we are building one in our secret development drydock, but the ship is also not planned as a reward at this time.
